Okie .. Ms Chu complained that I did not put up her self made lantern so here it is.Shall confer her with "Miss Originality" title!

Brings back memories yah ...and yes, this is what my office does when bored, be creative with office supplies ...hehehe ...
Ms Admin, are you listening ???

Mooncake & Lantern Party tomorrow !

Yup, you heard it right ... will be having a mooncake & lantern party (heard that there will be durian filling from Tung Lok & even Haagen Daz ice cream ones) at the office tomorrow !Yum yum ..finding every excuse to throw a party .. yes that's us!hehehehe ...was trying to convince my Admin dept to allow candles for my lanterns but rules are rules ...or at least that's what they "claim" .. they must have heard my "fame" of being a hopeless lantern owner. Sigh ... news does spread like wild fire.. = P

Talking about mooncakes, during lunch today, we were so craving for mooncakes that we gobbled down our lunch and started hopping from stalls to stalls savouring little bits of samples.Being such an "Auntie" , I was even armed with a toothpick (kept rom the 1st stall .. not my own oki) , ever ready to plunge into the yummy, fatty, calories building sugary treat.Tasted some really nice ones, like the orange flavoured white lotus snow skin mooncake from one of the hotels & the fried teochew style yam paste crusty ones. Hmmm... salivating at the thought of it. Chanced upon some really unique ones like the chempadak flavour (WEIRD tasting man) & raspberry cheese (no samples but it sounds exciting enough).

Check out this website on the diff style of mooncakes (Cantonese, Hokkien, Teowchew) & food for the Min Autumn Fest
http://www.can.com.sg/content/neocan/en/streetwise/eat/feasting___mid-autumn/foods_of_the_mooncake.html

As for the origin of mooncake (bet we have forgotten), here's an extract from the web :

Mooncakes symbolize the gathering of friends and family and are an indispensable part of the offerings made to the Earth God, Tu Ti Kung. According to popular belief, the custom of eating mooncakes began in the late Yuan dynasty.

As the story goes, the Han people of that time resented the Mongol rule of the Yuan Dynasty and revolutionaries, led by Chu Yuan-chang, plotted to usurp the throne. Chu needed to find a way of uniting the people to revolt on the same day without letting the Mongol rulers learn of the plan. Chu's close advisor, Liu Po-wen, finally came up with a brilliant idea. A rumor was spread that a plague was ravaging the land and that only by eating a special mooncake distributed by the revolutionaries could the disaster be prevented. The mooncakes were then distributed only to the Han people, who found, upon cutting the cakes open, the message "Revolt on the fifteenth of the eighth moon." Thus informed, the people rose together on the designated day to overthrow the Yuan, and since that time mooncakes have become an integral part of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The world is getting Younger ?

Just spent a great weekend hanging out with some of my very young colleagues (and I meant really young like they were born when I was in PRIMARY ONE.. you go do the Math) and suddenly, besides the obvious AGE GAP, I feel like I am getting OLD. Not that it is a bad thing, being more mature since I have supposedly "taken more rice than they have taken salt" ... or was it "taken more salt than they have taken rice" ? Sigh .. what the heck, either having taken salt or rice has obviously done nothing to my memory nor my mastery of Mandarin..hahahah

Coming back to the issue of Youth .. why are pple or myself at least, always chasing after the dream of obtaining the elixir of youth?(no, this did not come out from watching too many Chinese Wu-Xia Serial okie) Do we really just want to look young (with botox & what's not) or FEEL young? Personally, I just want to find back what I lost in the rush to grow up ...

So what's so good about being young?Hmmmm.. for a start ....

  1. The world was my oyster so I came armed with a dash of Tabasco (read : FIRE/Passion) and ate with gusto (Read : Fearless)
  2. Falling down doesn't seems to hurt as much
  3. Friends are easily made & accepted
  4. Simple things satisfy ... like the sight of rainbows and children laughing
  5. Kinship and friendship are valued way above materialistic pursuits

It seems all so easy to list them down but why aren't I like that anymore ? Simply cos I'm jaded, sick of work, frustrated with office politics & incompetency, disgusted with inequity and more importantly, losing faith in humankind .... especially smiley conniving ones!!muahahahhaha ...

All these points to one thing .. I NEED A BREAK BADLY .... oh, by the way, did I mention that I will be going to KOREA next month .....hehehehe ....

An earth shattering record ?

Yup, its offcial, I have a bunch of Grrrrreat , if not loony & occassionally horny (you know who you are), pals! To those who have read my blogs & gave me encouragement .... Love You LOTS .. *muack muack muack* ... I will continue to shamelessly yak on & No, I refuse to succumb to the... here she goes again with her 3 min interest ...

Well, it has been at least 3 days right ?That would be at least 36 hours which translates to 2160 min which further translates to 129 600 seconds! Woohoo..we have a world record here.. in my book of sustainable interest at least. hahaha

Was having a nice subway dinner with Monkey & Demented earlier (healthy okie.. if you exclude the soft drink, the chips, the yummy chewy to-die-for cookieS & the irresistable honey mustard.. yup, positively healthy) & was suddenly asked why do pple blog & what do they blog about ? That set me thinking.. yah, what would I blog about ?

My reply to that ...ANYTHING ..which to a large extend, is very true. I guess why blogs are wildly popular is due to the fact that firstly, there are no model topics nor SOPs to follow & pple are just allowed to air their views on anything close to their hearts. Nothing is too trival to write about.(can imagine little men holding "freedom of speech" banners parading up & down my blog now)

And of cos, is the perception of having an audience to share their experiences. Trust me, I know of pple who can rant endlessly in the presence of an audience (have one coming to my cubicle every other day .. no prizes for guessing who ...ACTUALLY) though I was just trying to be POLITE to HER..oops did I say its a HER ?? So come to think of it, aren't we all just craving for attention ?

Morale of my yakking? Guess there is none, that's why its called yakking ...hehehehe .Okie, got to get moi beauty sleep, goodnight ....am going to hit the gym early in the morning IF .....

*Found this pic & like it lots .. reminds me of the poisoned apples Snow White had ..with apples that pretty, no wonder she had one. or was it two....hehehe *

Just another lazy Sunday ?

Hmm ... ever wonder why it we call it Lazy Sunday ? True, one does get all relaxed and all chummy, lovely dovey, piggiezzzzzzzz (you get the idea).....on a Sunday. It must be something in the air or just mental ?
People are just suddenly nicer, friendly and generally more humane.

Look at the traffic as a good example. I LOVE driving on a Sunday (though generally I hate to drive, much prefer to be chauffeured of cos .. *nose in the air* ) where there are neither "suicidal squads" nor F1 wannabe zigzaging down the expressways! Come to think of it, maybe these folks are too deep in their slumber from the all night partying on the Happening Saturdays ...Thank god for that!

*Tick tock tick tock* Am I hearing things or is my Sunday coming to an end ?? It cannot be true ... NOOOOooooooo .... *breaks out in cold sweat .. pant pant*

Okie, breathe breathe ...why are Mondays so hard to survive? Mondays are always associated with all things bad ... like Manic Monday, Monday Blues ... errrrr ... someone help me ? And just for the record, I hate Mondays (except of cos for the cute gym instructor I get to see at the end of the rainbow .. oh, Monday I meant)

Okie okie , I admit I have succumbed to the blogging bug (yes ... I know, i'm SLOW) but then again ... Here I am!

Wondering who in the world is Ziggy ? And who cares if Ziggy loves who ?? Well, for a start, for those who are just dying to know (though I suspect the numbers are not gonna be pretty) my encounter with Mr Ziggy happened last Saturday when our eyes fell upon each other in a little dingy corner of the Library (awwww ... how romantic yah, always knew I will find an intellectual man) & I impulsively swooped him up in my arms and the next thing you know we are enjoying each other's company in the comfort of my room (yup .. you heard it right) ... I scored didn't i ?

Hmmm ... guess I better spare you the juicy details cos it is my nature to be totally sensitive to other's feelings lest I conjure some unwarranted pangs of envy (ain't I such a sweetie... blink blink)

Did I hear a snigger somewhere ? Do YOU doubt me ?? How dare you .......guess it all so quickly ?? Yes yes, put a stake in my heart right now ... there is no Mr Intelligent nor passionate romp in my room . Happy ?!!(Sigh, can't a girl just fantasize ... even in her blog?)

For those uninitiated... presenting MR ZIGGY ......

Okie, he may not be much of a hunk (come to think of it, he is WAY off that path) but he is soooo adorable with his insecurities and innocent hope for WORLD PEACE ....yup another case of acquired taste as usual.
*Disclaimer : I did NOTHING to the book.. it came in THAT condition *
